What We Do

Forest Policy

Our forest policy work maintains both the integrity and the efficiency of British Columbia’s world-leading regulatory framework for forest management.

Coast Forest Products Association makes positive contributions to public policy outcomes by offering solutions-driven strategic views that are backed by science-based facts and research.

Our relationships with government and forest stakeholders maintain both the integrity and the efficiency of British Columbia’s world-leading regulatory framework for forest management. We are also involved in policy development related to the environment, climate change, First Nations, safety, market access and taxation.

Timber Pricing: We help to maintain a balanced Market-based Pricing System (MPS) formula for stumpage so both industry and government benefit, and coastal products remain competitive in global markets.

Market Structure: We participate in the Timber Sales Advisory Committee, monitoring B.C. Timber Sales auctions so we can be sure we have a market structure that responds to market needs.

Softwood Lumber: We coordinate the coastal forest industry’s input to the federal and provincial governments with respect to implementation, compliance, monitoring, arbitration and changes to the Canada-U.S. softwood lumber agreement.
