Japan Housing Starts
Japan’s Government Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transportation tracks housing starts in Japan with a high level of detail. The attached chart outlines housing starts of wooden building methodologies between 1984 and 2002.

The majority of lumber shipped to Japan by Coastal operators are primarily building components used in the "zairai" building methodology – which is the Japan traditional building system we refer to as "post and beam."
