Shown is one piece 4" thick, 10" wide, 12' long, illustrating the high percentage of clear wood that can be recovered by careful remanufacturing. Allowing for saw kerf, this Flitch yielded 90% clear cuttings.

Factory Flitches are graded to produce a minimum recovery of 80% clear wood assuming the Flitch is sawn into pieces 1" thick. This percentage can be increased by resawing to produce a variety of lengths, widths and thicknesses to suit manufacturer’s needs.

Compared to the cost of an equal volume of standard sizes in clear grades, Factory Flitches offer manufacturers a substantial cost advantage by reducing the quality and variety of sizes normally required in stock.
