David Morel, Executive Director, Tenure & Revenue

David Morel was appointed Executive Director of Tenure and Revenue Division in June 2006. David joined the Forest Service in 1998 as Manager of International Relations and Trade. He has worked in the BC government in central agencies including the Secretariat to the Deputy Ministers' Committee on Natural Resources and the Economy, and the Intergovernmental Relations Secretariat. Before joining the BC government, he worked in the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Ontario government. This has left David with the somewhat dubious distinction of "resolving" the softwood lumber dispute for three different governments. David studied economics at Carleton University and the University of Toronto. He is an avid skier, golfer, mountain biker and has been known to shuffle through the occasional triathlon.

Michael Loseth, is the Vice President, International Marketing for Forestry Innovation Investment. Originally from British Columbia, Michael completed his undergraduate studies at Carleton University in Ottawa, then a Masters in Business Administration from UBC and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Michael has spent the last 15 years working in various capacities with the BC Government, focused primarily on the forest industry and forest dependent communities.

Salman Partners
Paul Quinn is a Paper & Forest Products Analyst with Salman Partners, a small resource-focused investment bank. He provides research on the North American forest industry, with special emphasis on the 17 forest companies under his coverage (including TimberWest, Catalyst Paper and Interfor). Prior to joining Salman Partners in 2003, Paul worked at National Bank with Reid Carter. Before moving into the investment field, Paul worked at Weyerhaeuser, MacMillan Bloedel and Great Lakes Forest Products. Paul's areas of expertise include timber pricing, valuation, policy analysis and strategic modeling. Paul's hands-on experience is complimented with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of British Columbia. Paul has done well in his current job of clairvoyant, ranking #2 stockpicker in North America in the Paper & Forest Products Industry by Starmine in both 2004 and 2006.

Tanner Elton, Executive Director
BC Forest Safety Council
Tanner Elton is the CEO of the BC Forest Safety Council, an industry led and supported organization dedicated to improving safety. Immediately prior to joining the Council, Tanner managed the Forest Safety Task Force, which set out a detailed action plan to improve safety in the forest sector and recommended a permanent forest safety infrastructure. Tanner then worked with industry to set up the Council. He was interim director of the Council until spring 2005 when he became chief executive officer. He has held senior positions in both the public and private sectors.

Russell Taylor's experience in the forest industry has included that of a forester (in the 1970s), lumber manufacturing and marketing (in the 1980s), as well as strategic business and marketing consulting with WOOD MARKETS in the 1990s and to-date. Mr. Taylor conducts wood products marketing analysis and business investment projects for numerous global industry clients and across North America. Mr. Taylor and his team travel extensively and conduct research and analysis throughout North America and in many dynamic global regions, including Russia, China, Asia and throughout the Southern Hemisphere and Europe. International WOOD MARKETS Group is responsible for various strategic market intelligence reports and forecasts for the wood products industry. Mr. Taylor has a forestry degree (BScF) and an MBA from the University of B.C. (Vancouver) and is also a registered professional forester (RPF).
