Growing Support for Cornerstone Industry at the 2017 Union of BC Municipalities Convention
Coast Forest was one of many members of BC’s forest industry present this year’s UBCM Convention, working to increase understanding of BC’s cornerstone sector.
Representatives of Coast Forest and COFI co-sponsored a booth at the UBCM tradeshow, focusing on the discussion of the newly released B.C. Forest Industry Economic Impact Study. The study highlights the significant value of BC’s forest sector, from its impact on the economy, to its role as a major employer, providing over 140,000 jobs to British Columbians.
Coast Forest and COFI also sponsored the Mid-Sized Communities Lunch Forum and the UBCM Forestry Breakfast, further building relationships and strengthening understanding about forestry with the new provincial government and coastal communities. Additionally, delegates had the opportunity to grow their knowledge on the role of forestry as a cornerstone of the provincial economy with the Forestry 101 session hosted by the Province.
Forestry’s robust presence at the 2017 UBCM convention strengthened the connections made by Coast Forest and its partners to support this valuable industry.
