Extending a Cedar Bough in a Carbon-Based World

tall-forest2 (2)

We have had some interesting times around the Coast Forest offices lately since the issue of carbon and forests increased in prominence in the media over the last few weeks.

Climate change is one of the most important issues facing society today and has been a major focus of research and action for Coast Forest and its members for a number of years. For example, the forest industry has committed to being carbon neutral by 2015 and has contracted research organizations to assist us in doing our part to address climate change. We believe it behooves us all to provide the public with the best science-based information to support productive discussion and allow people to reach informed perspectives and conclusions.

To this end, Coast Forest has extended a “cedar bough” to several environmental groups proposing that we find common ground on key carbon issues. From there, it is our sincerest hope is that we can jointly provide sound facts and accurate information to the public.

Over the years, Coast Forest and environmental groups have addressed huge challenges by creating solutions that promote healthy forests and human well-being. We have more common ground today than ever before. We look forward to the next chapter.

Big news! Coast Forest and COFI have come together as one
organization for a stronger, unified voice for BC's forest industry.
